A Short Note on Playing Blackjack
Blackjack is the successor of 21 or vingt-et-un (in French). From the old game itself, playing blackjack is all about the number 21. If one knows how to add, then playing blackjack is so easy to learn.
If the hand has the highest total of cards and does not exceed 21, then he is the winner. If the hand has the highest total but exceeded 21, then he is busted. The cards 2 up to 10 are equal to their face value and the face cards--- King, Queen and Jack --- have a value of 10. An ace's value varies. It could be 11 but if this will cause the player to get busted its worth would only be 1. If ace's worth is considered 11, the hand is called a soft hand because it will not be busted if another card is drawn.
The main goal of a player is to simply beat the dealer by being the higher and not busted hand. If the player is busted, he is already lost even if the dealer is also busted. If the dealer and player have the same face value, then it is called a push where nobody wins the hand. It is always an independent game between the dealer and each player. So sometimes, the dealer may lose to some players but beat the others in a given round.
In playing the American Blackjack, once the dealer's showing card is ace or in tens value, the dealer must verify if he got a blackjack. This verification happens before the players start the game and after they have been bargained for insurance (if the faced-up card is ace). Insurance is when the player decides to bet to an amount up to half of his first bet. If it is blackjack for a dealer, all players are lost except for those who have blackjack also.
The player who takes insurance, on the other hand, has protected the original bet from a blackjack win of the dealer. If the insured player wins, he gets the equal amount of his wager. In insurance, no one is lost even if the dealer has blackjack and the player may still win if the dealer has no blackjack, and so the insurance is forfeited.
In order to win, one must first know how to play blackjack, and then learn the rules of the casino. Different rules may be relevant to different casinos. From this knowledge, strategize how you will win in blackjack.
